Charlie Pick
Architect; Founder and President
Charles Pick was one of the first to work in the nascent field of real-estate due diligence, in the 1980s, and continued to work in due diligence as the industry evolved. So when Charlie founded Basis Architecture & Consulting, in January 2007, he did something that hadn’t been done before. He paired two services: due diligence and project architecture.
In his career, Charlie has worked on more than a thousand buildings. With his extensive experience in due diligence, he knows what works and what doesn’t work in building design and construction. A longtime advocate of multifamily housing, supporting both the creation and preservation of affordable and moderate- to high-density housing, Charlie has spoken to groups such as The Council of Rural Housing, Commonwealth Club of California, Housing California, and AHMA Northern California. He served for 10 years as a planning commissioner for the City of San Rafael. Charlie worked and fought for the grand plaza in front of the San Francisco Ferry Building in the 1990s, and still enjoys local politics. Charlie’s pursuit out of the office is sailing and racing his J/105 on San Francisco Bay.
